Beard hair loss is an issue faced by nearly every individual at any one period of time. It is not a consequential medical condition but it can cause remarkable anxiety and sadness.
This issue is a cause of concern for the people of every age, since everybody wants to look beautiful and more confident. Thus, some people have started opting for facial hair transplants. Let’s find out if this type of surgery can work its way to lead to live a less worrisome life.
This baldness issue is a special type of alopecia areata in which your own immune system cells attack the skin cells. More particularly hair follicles in the beard area. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes hair to loose in small patches. The condition has a sudden onset that causes beard hair loss and leads to the appearance of circular bald patches in your beard region. The disease can be also termed as spot baldness.
Even though it can be treated by various medications but its autoimmune nature makes it liable to return. Therefore facial hair transplant appears to be its one stop and happy solution.
As the name suggests, it is simply a hair transplantation done to the facial hairs. A beard transplant requires extraction of hair from other parts of the body such as scalp hair and transplanted into areas which have circular bald patches in your beard.
These procedures are minimally invasive, cause minute pain and their recovery time is of shorter duration. Compared to other surgeries and transplant it may take around 5 hours. Concisely, one day off from work will just do the job provided that you have to schedule it beforehand!
There are two methods of Facial Hair Transplant available;
The FUE hair transplant is the most commonly employed procedure which requires removal of individual hair along with their follicles and then there placement in the designated area in your beard. Usually hairs are removed from the back of the scalp region or nape of the neck. A hair surgery made with the FUE will leave small circular scars. Mainly in the part where hairs were removed from but they are hardly visible even in shorter hair.
In this method of beard transplant, individual follicular units are taken and are grafted one by one from the donor site to a recipient site. The follicular unit survival upon extraction is what makes it most successful. The procedure is done under a local anesthetic and you will feel minute or even no pain at times. This practice is absolutely safe and also has the advantage of less recovery time.
A FUT procedure requires removal of a small hear bearing strips of tissues from a region and stitching of the wounded area, leaving a linear scar on the donor surface. These strips are taken from the scalp, at the back of the head.
With this technique an ample amount of hair is taken thus a large number of grafts are available for transplant. It is also painless like FUE and is done under local anesthetic. It is typically less expensive and has a shorter duration of surgery. Unfortunately, the end results are not as natural as with the more recent FUE method.
Grafts that are usually selected for a transplant are healthy and genetically resistant to balding, like the back of the head. Numbers of grafts that are needed to be transplanted depends upon the size of the recipient area. Amount of grafts required to restore beard hair vary with the treatment. Studies suggests an approximate of 2500 hair follicle grafts is needed for full beard.
A successful FUE treatment requires 2000 or more separate hair graft extractions. On the other hand in a FUT procedure a hair bearing tissue strip is excised as a whole and individual follicular unit grafts are obtained.
Beard transplants will last and look absolutely natural if done the right way. After two to three weeks of the treatment, in both FUE and FUT, you will experience hair loss for sometimes. This is called Shock hair loss and is very natural and a part of recovery. Do not fret as new and healthy hair will grow back by three months or in a particular timeframe as advised by your doctor.
The cost of both FUE and FUT procedures is different and is due to the nature of both procedures. The duration of surgeries, technicalities, area to be covered or the density of your beard add up in the expense of the treatment. A FUE hair surgery happens to be more expensive than its FUT counterpart as it requires individual hair excision that demands a skilled surgeon. Plus added to this, is its time duration for a surgery.
However, you should not choose your treatment on the basis of cost alone. Especially because facial hair transplants last your whole life and a wrong choice of surgery may turn out critical and might cost more than the procedure itself. Thus it is recommended to do research and choose a reliable surgeon which can provide a reliable result under sterilised environment.
Many people choose to pay hundreds or thousands of pounds in cosmetic surgery to make them look more beautiful so paying for a transplant to solve hair loss issue is justifiable.
Though alopecia barbae will not put your health at risk but it can be troublesome since it is still a transplant surgery. A facial hair transplant will result in permanent desirable changes to your beard, it will make you more confident about yourself. You will be able to style your own beard and shave according to your wish. You can even use hair transplant for you eyebrows and sideburns too.
You will give out desirable and charismatic aura and come out as more confident men in your community. Thus, this will be a comprehensive solution for all your hair loss problem.
